Set up and mark

  1. Find a clear, firm area with approximately 5 m between floor and ceiling. Fit the tool to its RM 1 rotating mount and place it on the floor. Select point mode with automatic levelling. Let it settle.
  2. Mark the centre of the upper point on the ceiling as I. Mark the centre of the lower point on the floor as II.
  3. Turn the tool 180°. Position the lower-point centre exactly on floor mark II. Let it settle. Mark the upper-point centre on the ceiling as III.
  4. Measure the floor-to-ceiling distance and the separation between ceiling marks I and III.

Calculate and record

Bosch's limit = 2 × floor-to-ceiling distance in metres × 0.7 mm/m. At 5 m, the maximum mark separation is 7 mm. This is the point accuracy rate; do not use the line rate of 0.3 mm/m here.

Floor-to-ceiling distance: _______ m
Calculated maximum separation: _______ mm
Observed ceiling mark I–III separation: _______ mm

Result: □ within limit   □ exceeds limit

If the observed separation exceeds the calculated maximum, repeat the setup and beam-centre marks. Bosch directs a tool that still exceeds a maximum deviation to its after-sales service for repair. This sheet is a user's check record, not an adjustment guide or calibration certificate.
